Sharing your password is not recommended because it gives another person full access to everything attached to your Hawk ID account. This can include grades, bank account information, e-mail, and other personal information that you want to keep private.
Delegation is a way to allow others to act for you, but limit what they can see and do. For example, if you have an Outlook calendar, you can allow someone to make appointments for you. This is called a "delegate." This person can do certain things with your account without having to know your password. If you are a professor creating a class in WebCT, you can delegate publishing rights to others involved in the creation of the class.
